Meditation

What is it?

Meditation aims initially at calmness and an increased sense of personal well being. More significantly it progresses to enable one to understand that stress is primarily a personal response to events, rather than a direct result of the event it self.

How can it help me?

Meditation has been found to be particularly effective in the treatment of a wide range of stress related conditions. It can contribute to weight loss, giving-up smoking, reducing alcohol intake or the discontinuation of long-term tranquilliser use.

Where and when?

Courses are held regularly at the South Cerney Surgery normally on a weekend from 10.00am - 4.00pm

Who?

John Preston the course tutor worked for many years as a social services manager, counsellor and teacher. For five years he trained as a monk at a Buddhist meditation monastery. Returning to lay-life he now teaches meditation as an entirely secular practice promoting personal growth.
