What we do
The Phoenix Trust is a local charity which supports the provision of services to relieve hardship or distress affecting patients’ health where the service is not generally available within the NHS. The aim of the Trust is to ensure that everyone has equal access to the services they need, even if they cannot afford the full cost.
- The Trust helps people living in Cirencester and District or from any of the surgeries:
- The Trust helps all ages. For example it supports the Staywell 75+ scheme where a group of volunteers, co-ordinated by a health visitor for the elderly, visit and support the vulnerable elderly living at home. Over the years it has also supported Parentline who run courses on parenting skills.
- For over 10 years the Trust has subsidised the provision of complementary therapies, for example chiropody and osteopathy, for the benefit of patients.
- The Trust supports courses such as meditation.
- The Trust aims to provide immediate help when it is needed. One example of this is the purchase of equipment for the District Nurses to aid them in supporting terminally ill patients at home. The Trust involvement also included sponsorship of palliative care information packs for patients and their carers and reflexology for the terminally ill.
